For anyone who enjoys trekking or long walks there are many panoramic views from Lerici reaching the picturesque villages on the hills, the fascinating cliffs and the hidden and quiet bays in Fiascherino and Tellaro. This area, an all times destination of famous poets and artists, has been named "The Gulf of Poets" and thanks to this name Lerici is renowned all over the world. Lerici’s village stands within the “Riviera di Levante” on the eastern side of the Gulf of La Spezia. It is born in the middle of a small natural creek, called Seno of Lerici and it is dominated by a promontory over which the imposing castle, nowadays a museum site, shines. Almost opposite Lerici, besides Venere Azzurra’s location, you will find the village of San Terenzo too. Geo-ontological museum of Lerici’s castle. The museum is being built thanks to the amazing discovery in Lerici’s territory of dinosaurs’ and other reptiles’ footprints, discovery made by Ilario Sirigu, a passionate researcher died prematurely: on the thrust of this success, Lerici’s museum legacy comes back to life again, considering that it all started in the XIX century with La Spezia born Giovanni Cappellini, one amongst the founders of modern geology in Italy, who conducted his first explorations in the Gulf of La Spezia.
